Here's what's coming up in WAVE: 

 

1.  July is here and WAVE has two exciting trips coming up for our students! 

On July 19-20, the Sr. High will be going down to Ship Island.  All signup and payments are due by Sunday, July 14.  A postcard will be sent to your student in the mail with all details and information.  There is also info in the WAVE game room. 

On July 26-28, the Jr. High will have their very own "mini Escape."  This is our own spin-off from the Great Escape last year.  We will be staying out at Lake Cavalier and will be going out to Twin Lakes on Saturday for the Ropes Course, horseback riding, and more!  Don't miss out!  All signup and payment deadlines are due by Sunday, July 21.  A postcard will be sent to your student in the mail with all details and information.  There is also info in the WAVE game room.

2.  DRIVERS STILL NEEDED!  I have yet to hear back from anyone about helping out with the Mississippi Braves Game on Wednesday, July 10 from 6:00-10:00pm!  Your ticket will be covered by WAVE.  If you are available to help out, please let me know!  This will be a fun/hot/humid event!  I need two extra drivers for this event! 

 

3.  Lastly, WAVE will NOT meet this Sunday due to the Church-wide Picnic at the Self's House.  We hope to see you there!  Picnic starts at 5:00pm and Ultimate Frisbee will be played.

WAVE Update 6/21

 

WAVE UPDATE

Greetings WAVE Parents!  Hope you are looking forward to the weekend!  Here is the latest WAVE news for you to be in the know: 

 

1.  Don't miss out tomorrow night with our next Movie and Game Night: Part 6 from 5:00-11:00pm!  These events are always fun!  Meet at the church, dinner provided.  We will be playing Capture the Flag, a new game called Landmine, Sardines, watching a movie, and more!  Tell your student to invite friends!  Be sure to bring outdoorsy clothes and good running shoes because we will be active for sure!  Hope to see everyone there. 

 

2.  Secondly, due to the Rafting Trip expenses and my summer Hebrew class starting next Monday, the Sr. High Beach Trip to Pensacola has been cancelled.  HOWEVER, before anyone gets upset, we will still be going to the beach!  On July 19-20, the Sr. High will be going to Ship Island off the coast of Mississippi in the Gulfport/Biloxi area.  We will be leaving on Friday afternoon and will return late Saturday night.  I needed to shorten the trip a day for class attendance issues - so I had to push things back.  I hope this alternative will still be exciting for your student!  If you have never been to Ship Island, it is an extremely cool and relaxing place.  Cost will be $200 a person if your student helped out with 1 fundraiser/base price and $150 if your student helped with 2-3 fundraisers.  Students will also need an additional $100 for meals, souvenirs, etc.  More details will be discussed as we get closer to sign up and payment deadline.  Signup and payment deadlines for this trip will be on Sunday, July 14.  Be sure to tell your student to sign up and invite friends!  If you have any other questions, please let me know!  I will be making the announcement this Sunday night at WAVE to our students as well. 

 

3.  DRIVERS NEEDED:  On Wednesday, July 10, WAVE will be going to a Mississippi Braves Game.  I will need 2 drivers to help with this event.  Your ticket will be paid for as compensation for helping!  Please email me back and let me know if you can help for this event!  Hours for this event are from 6:00-10:00pm. 

 

4.  Lastly, WAVE will be cancelled on Sunday, June 30 due to the Church-wide picnic at the Self's house starting at 5:00pm.  Let's all plan on attending this fun event with our church family!

Rafting Trip Deadline

WAVE Parents -

 

The Rafting Trip will be here before we know it!  NEXT WEEK actually.  There aren't that many students signed up for this exciting trip.  If your student would like to go, here's what you need to do: 

 

1.  Sign up in the youth rooms or text Seth verifying that you will be attending this trip. 

 

2.  Make all trip payments by this Sunday, June 9 by 7:30pm.  Wildwater must have all payments in by Monday, June 10.  If a student asks to go after the 9th, they will not be able to go.  Base Cost is $300 or if your student helped with 1 of the 3 fundraisers this Spring.  It is $250 if your student helped with 2 or 3 fundraisers this Spring.  Attached to this email is the list of fundraisers and students that helped with each fundraiser.  Please look at this list so you will know what to pay. 

 

3.  Attend the Rafting Trip meeting on Sunday, June 9 at 7:30pm for all trip scheduling and details.  This can be attended by students only if you would like.

WAVE Update 5/24

WAVE UPDATE

Here's your update for the week!  The weekend is here! 

 

1.  Our first WAVE event for the summer is this Sunday, May 26, with our Kick-Off to the Summer Party at Lake Cavalier from 2:00-8:00pm!  Meet at the church at 2:00pm.  Bring sunscreen, towels, extra change of clothes, etc.  This is an outdoors event!  We will be outside all day!  Three things to consider:  Firstly, I would advise having your student bring some water shoes to swim with in the lake.  A few summers ago I stepped on a stump out there where they will be swimming and it went right up into my foot.  In a lake, you never know what could be down there.  Secondly, girls must follow the WAVE swimsuit policy:  one pieces or tankinis only.  We will be waterskiing and intertubing all day and don't need anything "falling out."  This happened to a girl last year with a tankini and it didn't end so well.  Bathing suits for girls will be checked by Roberta and Emily before we leave.  Girls who do not follow this policy will have to call their parents and make other bathing suit arrangements before they can participate in any water events for the day.  If your female student thinks this is somewhat "ridiculous," perhaps it could be a great opportunity to explain modesty with church events and that we need to honor Christ with our bodies.  Thirdly, for the gentleman in the group, I know that wearing sunscreen "isn't cool at all," but we will be out in the sun all day.  PLEASE make them apply sunscreen.  A lot of our male students have personally told me in the past that they "do not get sunburned."  This is impossible.  Please apply sunscreen.  We will be back at the church by 8pm for pickup.  If you have any other questions, please let me know! 

 

2.  Secondly, all summer trip information has been posted in the youth rooms.  Here are the dates and signup/payment deadlines below.  The Rafting Trip is less than three weeks away, so please stay on track!  As I told our students, I have to have an approximate number and headcount for the places we are staying, so if a student tries to sign up after the deadline, they will not be able to go!  Don't let this happen! 

 

Bible Readers Trip to Atlanta = May 31-June 2

Cost:  $100-150.  Students will need this for any extra food they want at the Braves game, Six Flags food and souvenirs, the meal for Saturday night at Hard Rock Café, and snacks for the road.   

 

Rafting Trip to Chattooga River = June 13-16 (Jr. High and Sr. High) 

Cost:  $300 (base cost or if your student helped out with 1 fundraiser) 

          $250 (if your student helped out with 2-3 fundraisers)

Sr. High Beach Trip to Pensacola Beach = July 11-14 (Sr. High only.  Grades 9-12)

Jr. High's "The mini Escape" = July 26-28 (Jr. High only.  Grades 6-8) 

Cost:  $75 (base cost or if your student helped out with 1 fundraiser) 

         $50 (if your student helped out with 2-3 fundraisers) 

Signup and Payment Due by = Sunday, July 21.  There will also be a meeting for all students and parents after WAVE on this night for trip information and scheduling. 

 

If you or your student is uncertain as to which fundraisers they helped out with, there is a list of all participants and each fundraiser in the youth rooms.  Make all checks out to Grace Chapel.  You can bring the checks by anytime before the due dates, give them to me at church, or leave them in my office.  If you have any other questions, please let me know! 

 

3.  Lastly, the LAST Bible Readers quiz is on Wednesday, May 29 from 6-7pm.  There will be pizza afterwards and we will all hang out together for a little while.  I will be at the church at 2pm that day.  I have told the students that they can come by and say their checklists during 2-6pm.  All checklists need to be completed by 6pm!

WAVE Update 5/3

Here's your update for the week: 

 

1.  If you missed the Parents Meeting last Sunday, attached to this email you will find the agenda sheet, the Sunday Dinner Schedule for the summer, and the summer calendar.  Be sure to check all of these out so you will know what is going on! 

 

2.  Below is the information for summer trips.  Sign-up sheets and prices for these trips will be posted in the youth rooms on Sunday.  Each trip does have a cut-off date, so be sure your student pays attention to that. 

 

    Bible Readers trip to Atlanta = May 31-June 2

    Rafting Trip (for Jr. High & Sr. High) = June 13-16

    Sr. High Beach Trip to Pensacola Beach = July 11-14

    Jr. High "The mini ESCAPE" = July 26-28

 

3.  Next Wednesday will be the last Wednesday night Bible Study for the semester!  Be sure to attend!  Wednesday night Bible Study will not meet during the summer and will start back on Wednesday, August 21st. 

 

4.  Our Leadership Team meeting this Sunday has been moved to 4:30pm instead of 7:30pm.  Meet in the couch room. 

 

5.  Lastly, there will be NO WAVE EVENTS from May 12-May 25.  Our Kick Off to the Summer Party will be on Sunday, May 26 at Lake Cavalier from 2:00-8:00pm.  This is also the first event that new students can attend for the summer!  Last year we had a great time and I am hoping the rain will be gone this year so we can have some fun!

Here's your WAVE Update for the week: 

 

1.  A reminder again that we have switched over to our very own texting service.  If you do not join this service, you wont receive any text announcements/updates.  Please take some time to do this in order to be in the know!  Text "@WAVEYOUTH" (without quotation marks) to the # 23559.  Once you have done this, it will ask you for a password.  The pw = "gracewave" (one word, no quotations).  After this, it will ask you to create a username in the group service.  Once you have completed this, you're in! The final reminder for this texting service will be at the end of this month. 

 

2.  Secondly, don't forget that TOMORROW we are going to Rocky Springs for the day!  Refer to your postcard you received in the mail for all details.  Be sure your female student follows the WAVE swimsuit policy (one pieces only & tankini's are acceptable - no bikinis).  If your female student does not follow these requirements, they will have to make other swimsuit arrangements before they are able to participate in any activities for the day.  Meet at the church at 8:45am.  Your student does not need any money for this trip.  Encourage them to invite friends!  We will be back at 5:00pm. 

 

3.  Thirdly, WAVE will still meet this Sunday, but will meet at 6:30 instead of 5:30 due to the Churchwide Crawfish Boil.  We will meet for an hour, ending at our regular time of 7:30.  If your student missed their Bible Readers Quiz last week, they can make it up from 7:30-8:00pm. 

 

4. Fourthly, next Saturday, April 27, from 10:00am-3:00pm, WAVE will be doing its last fundraiser for the Spring with our Spring Car Wash at Grace Chapel.  If you have any old towels, car sponges, or buckets that you can donate for the day, please send them with your student!  We look forward to serving the community and our congregation!  Be sure to go "muddin" before you come get your car cleaned! 

 

5. Lastly, our next Parents Meeting is next Sunday, April 28, from 4:00-5:00pm in the Media Room.  We will be discussing all summer plans, so please try to attend this important meeting!
